Ecotherapy is "an umbrella term for nature-based methods of physical and psychological healing...it's a form of psychotherapy that acknowledges the vital role of nature and addresses the human-nature relationship"
- Linda Buzzell and Craig Chalquist in 'Ecotherapy: Healing with Nature in Mind"
You ARE nature- as you breathe air into your lungs or drink cool, fresh water- your body is connected to nature itself. Just being human connects you to forests, lakes and other living beings who are all journeying together in the world. It makes sense that time with nature feels nourishing- because we are aligning ourselves with our connectedness to the rest of nature. We are reconnecting when so much of our daily lives involve being disconnected and therefore forgetting our needs to be with nature.
As Linda Buzzell states, "When we joyfully reconnect with nature and recognize in ourselves the natural beings that we are, true healing will follow".
There are many reasons why nature can be healing- and we're excited to start exploring them with you! 🌳 🌼
